Have you observed the new PokerPro hold em poker tables? The first time I saw the PokerPro tables was about two weeks ago when I took a short vacation with my parents to the WinStar Betting house in Oklahoma.
As I anxiously waited for my name to be called at the live tables, I noticed how the other individuals at the PokerPro tables relate with one another. It was quite fascinating to say the least. Because the poker table was computer powered, there were no clay poker chips to do any chip tricks, no cards to shuffle and the actual live experience was stagnant. Maybe I was the only one that recognized this, but I did notice the players on the table had a lifeless quality to them. The reason behind this may be because there was no human interaction with the dealer, the environment was rather boring and the players looked bored to tears. It was almost as if I was looking at a live variation of an internet hold’em poker room instead of sitting with hot bodied humans. It was a little spooky and I continued to have flash backs to an episode of Star trek and the holodeck malfunctioned.
Since the waiting time for the are living tables was over an hour, I made the decision to observe how the game play was and to understanding this new hold em poker gaming technology. Soon after wagering a couple of hands, I definitely felt like I was betting at home. The lack of activity on the table was the primary reason. I like to shuffle my chips, stack my chips, and mix my cards around. None of those items are feasible at these electronic tables.
Another thing I noticed was how the computer dealt the flop, turn and river cards. I bet a whole lot of hands at the PokerPro table and discovered that the play was a lot like a web based hold em poker site. That might have been just a coincidence, except I discovered it to become quite odd.
Following playing a couple of rounds with this "unique hold’em poker technology", I made a decision that the PokerPro tables were not for me. I’m far better off playing texas holdem poker online at house and not travel the distance. If WinStar Gambling den were to have rid of the live poker tables, I think they’d loose a great deal of players.
