NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Thursday, 24. May 2018

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.

Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Sunday, 6. May 2018

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
