Do you ever have that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the closest casino, to come across a great stakes casino game of Hold em, to sit at a Black jack table for hours on end. I love that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also really like to watch people today bet. No two poker faces seem alike. When I bet I like to assume I put on a poker face which is impassable. But I know I’ve certain actions. For 1, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I wager on poker or Blackjack. And then I smoke. Except I chain smoke whether or not I am succeeding or losing, whether I’ve a great hand or bad.

I once bet in a very weekly poker game. The game was often five card draw. There was a person who bet with us every week who often wore a hat. When he was given a beneficial hand, unconsciously, he would begin touching and playing with his hat. Needless to say, he in no way won.

The greatest poker player I ever saw was a man who created more actions and signals at a poker table than anybody I had ever seen. He was impressive in the way he dressed. Constantly an expensive suit and tie, boots shined and nails trimmed. He was fastidious in this manner. And he was generally brushing his pants or holding his hands or stacking his chips in neat little piles.

I use to examine him for hours. I’d attempt to see if I could notice his tell. Picking lint off his shirt- did this mean he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a short pile – did this imply he had a very good hand?

Many years later I bumped into him in a bar in Chicago, il and we had a drink. I asked him if he had been aware of all those activities he made or if they were unconscious. He told me that each little thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is always checking out everybody else’s poker face. They’re trying to detect the the tell.

So his technique was to give them lots to think about. His thinking was if they had been pondering about him selecting a piece of fuzz off his vest and what it meant they positive were not pondering about their cards.

His method was distraction. And it worked for him. In no way give up a method that works for you.
