Friday, 21. April 2017

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
