No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
