Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Friday, 12. August 2022
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
