The Importance of Poker Position
Thursday, 20. November 2025
Hold’em is just about gamblers and seating. All knowledgeable Hold’em enthusiasts agree that position in no boundary Texas Holdem is critically significant. Showing your hole cards in last spot may be a whole lot more beneficial than in early poker position. The reason seeing that a lot more data is amassed right before acting.
e.g., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit money round at a local spot. I limped in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, so I could see a bit of excitement. Flop arrived A-A-4. A player in starting position laid a fifteen dollar wager. 2 entrants drop out and it was now my turn to act. I really should have folded, but his action felt a tiny bit off. I ID’d this player as a weak-tight player, and usually if he held the number one hand he would simply check, so I called.
The turn came down with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opposer placed a further bet of $20. I hesitated a bit, but decided to re-raise another $30thirty dollars on top of his twenty dollars. He folds and I won the cash.
Playing late spot offers you an insight into where you sit by seeing how other entrants behave and bet. On the flip side, gamblers at starting spot could use their poker spot to check-raise the last seated aggressors and corner them later at the end. In Hold’em, each spots, late and starting must be played carefully.
